Hotel CABINN Metro by Spæncom

Cabinn Metro Hotel

Description

Designed by the world-renowned American architect Daniel Libeskind, the Cabinn Metro Hotel is one of the most modern hotels in Denmark.

The 15-storey arched building is built of straight wall pieces so that the facade line “breaks” in the joints by the transverse walls. At the same time, the cover elements are bevelled at both rates.

Spæncom designed and produced 12,600 m² of walls and 12,500 m² of hollow core slabs (11,000 m² extruded and 1,500 m² Spanmax) for the Cabinn Metro Hotel, located 5 minutes from Copenhagen Airport.

The structure of the building consists of two striking intersecting volumes of glass and aluminium composite. There are deferred bearing cross walls for every second hotel room.

The facade on the ground level is made of precast concrete. Inside the building, not all cross-walls are load-bearing as the hotel bedrooms are relatively narrow, resembling ship cabins complete with bunk beds. As for the jaw-dropping curved facade of the building, it comprises specially designed concrete individual elements to create a 3D rupturing effect.
