Scandic Grand Central Helsinki is located in the old administrative buildings of the Helsinki Central railway station. The hotel’s architecture respects the original design completed in 1919 by Eliel Saarinen, the Finno-American architect well-known for his neo-artistic works.
Consolis has delivered graphic facades that were made to measure for this project, with a very specific shape and a finish with red granite incorporated to blend in with the existing building.
The main contractor for Scandic Grand Central Helsinki was NCC and the design was carried out by Arkkitehtitoimisto Futudesign Oy.
The use of data models enabled close cooperation between all parties. The modelling was used effectively throughout the project: from architectural and structural design to the design of 3D mold technology, and from element production and installation.
