Oodi Helsinki Central Library

Description

Helsinki Central Library Oodi has won several awards in Finland and around the world. Oodi was awarded the best Public Library of the Year 2019. It also received an honourable mention and was voted a public favourite at the Tekla BIM Awards 2018 competition. In a country where public libraries play a central role in civic life, the Oodi project became a flagship.

The Central Library combines elegantly and creatively concrete, steel, wood and glass. The floors of the building are made with Consolis Parma hollow-core slabs. The extensive use of BIM throughout the project enabled the building’s distinctive shapes.
