During the recent ‘Concrete Building of the Year Awards 2016’ held by the Estonian Concrete Association, two Consolis companies were recognised as key contributors to projects. A total of 20 buildings were entered for the awards.
The first Special Award went to the Karl Storz production and office building by Luhse & Tuhal OÜ architects. AS E-Betoonelement supplied concrete elements for the project.
The jury commented, “The surface of the elements that make up the panels on this building add diversity, using horizontal rectangles with the help of dummy joints. The two different patterns, combined with smooth unprocessed surfaces, bring originality.”
The jury’s chairman, Aadu Kana, said: “E-Betoonelement used titanium dioxide to produce the details on the building’s façade. The aim of the architects was to achieve a light, aesthetic and natural-looking concrete surface.”
The second Special Award went to the Lääne-Virumaa villa, by the architectural firm Emil Urbel OÜ (Emil Urbel, Aleksandr Zverev). The concrete elements were supplied by Swetrak AS.
The jury commented, “In addition to the concrete exterior, precast concrete was also used inside with an aesthetic finish. The concrete doorposts highlight the astounding attention to detail.” The jury continued, “Swetrak AS, part of the Consolis Group, was responsible for the excellent concrete elements that wowed the jury.”
