The T2 Alliance’s Helsinki-Vantaa Airport project has been chosen as the winner of the Tekla BIM Awards 2021 competition in Finland and the Baltic countries. The results of the competition were announced in Espoo on June 17, 2021.
The project has made extensive use of model-based data and had many challenging special features in addition to its large size. Consolis Parma, which supplied almost 10,000 elements for the project, used building information models from the tender stage to the completion. For instance, the data model was connected to Consolis Parma’s ERP system iNetto, which provided the site with real-time information on the design and the manufacturing situation.
The expansion of the Terminal 2 is expected to be completed in 2023, increasing the total floor area of the terminal by more than 45% to approximately 250,000 m².
