In The Netherlands, a new system for fixing balconies and fasten assembly has been developed by our subsidiary Consolis VBI and Schöck, the leading specialist for the prevention of thermal bridges in buildings.
In the wake of the pandemic, balconies have become an indispensable space in new residential projects. Cantilevered balconies, in particular, are often selected for their aesthetic appeal. New solutions for balconies are being launched to stay at the forefront of innovation: the retrofit of cantilevered balconies.
Recently, Consolis VBI has developed an innovative solution with Schöck, the world’s largest producer of structural thermal breaks. The innovation enables balconies to fit into existing VBI apartments floor slabs. The innovation consists of the fixation points which are embedded in a special floor slab. This special slab enables the assembly of balconies (supplied by third parties) in one operation after the building structure has been completed. Balconies can be assembled without any propping or scaffolding. All elements are prefabricated, and no cement is needed at the construction site during assembly, which minimizes construction time and construction costs.
This solution for constructing cantilevered balconies is currently delivered to an apartment building project in Amersfoort.
