Parma, Consolis’ Finnish subsidiary, held a recent sales seminar on the site of the new Rantaväylä tunnel, Finland’s longest road tunnel, for which Parma is a key supplier. Around 7,000 concrete elements precast by Parma Oy have already been assembled on the site of the Rantaväylä tunnel, located in Tampere in central Finland. This 2.3 kilometre tunnel is the longest road tunnel ever constructed in the country. It aims at improving the flow and safety of traffic in the area.
The project was carried out through an alliance formed by Lemminkäinen Infra Oy, the City of Tampere, the Finnish Transport Agency, the engineering office Saanio & Riekkola Oy, and A-Insinöörit Suunnittelu Oy. Parma’s involvement in the Rantaväylä tunnel is extensive: the company provides the foundations for the tunnel as well as wall elements and anti-noise screens. All elements are manufactured in Parma’s Kangasala factory.
Thanks to the efficiency and skills of everyone involved, the tunnel is expected to be open to the public in early 2017, six months earlier than originally planned.
